Attempted Cash-in-Transit Robbery Foiled in Mayfair, One Bystander Shot

JOHANNESBURG — Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) officers responded to an attempted cash-in-transit robbery on Church Street in Mayfair earlier today.

According to initial reports, officers muoved quickly after receiving complaints about the incident, securing the scene and launching an immediate response.

Authorities confirmed that no money was stolen during the attempted robbery. However, one member of the public was shot and injured during the incident.

Police investigations are currently underway as officials work to identify and apprehend those responsible.

JMPD says criminal activity in Johannesburg will continue to face firm and decisive action.
