DJ Warras Shot Dead In Johannesburg

Former 5FM and Cliff Central producer Warrick Stock, better known as DJ Warras, has been shot dead in the Johannesburg CBD this afternoon. Reports say the shooting occurred outside the Carlton Centre.

Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) Superintendent Xolani Fihla confirmed the shooting. “JMPD officers were first on the scene after members of the public alerted us. We currently have no further details on the victim. The South African Police Service will lead the investigation,” he said.

Friends and colleagues have taken to social media in shock. Rob Hersov, a close friend, tweeted: “He was murdered today in Johannesburg. Warras was the most loving, compassionate, friendly, honest, open, decent human being. This is a tragedy beyond belief.”

DJ Warras, who recently made headlines for controversial remarks about public figures, was also involved in VIP security services. Security analyst Chad Thomas said that the growing link between VIP security companies and violent disputes has raised concerns in Johannesburg.

Tributes are already pouring in from the music and media industry, with fellow artists expressing disbelief and sorrow over the shooting.

This is a developing story. Joburg News will provide updates as more information becomes available.
