Top Athletes Shine at the 2025 Soweto Marathon Despite Rainy Start

SOWETO – Not even the cold, damp morning could slow down the thousands of runners who took to the streets for this year’s Africanbank Soweto Marathon. The race kicked off under steady rain, but the spirit, determination, and resilience of the athletes burned brighter than the weather.

The marathon once again lived up to its name as “The People’s Race”, drawing elite runners, seasoned athletes, and first-timers who powered through one of Joburg’s most iconic race routes.
